Information about Nita

I am a qualified specialist teacher and SENco, I have a varied experience in teaching in specialist schools and also mainstream schools. My previous roles include classroom teacher, English Lead for specialist a school and Head of Inclusion in a mainstream school.

I have completed a Masters in Working in Education - A Psychoanalytic Observational approach at the renowned Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation. I have learned the relevance of psychoanalytic theories to understand the emotional factors that hinder learning for students with SEN.

I am currently completing a Professional Doctorate in Advanced Practice and Research: Social Work and Social Care at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation. The doctorate centres on psychoanalytical approaches in understanding the emotional demands and complexities for both the professional and the student. I am able to grasp working with students with SEN and understand psychoanalytical theories.

I am familiar with clinical observations, attachment theory, projection, containment, anxiety and working with challenging pupils. This has empowered me to understand the student’s needs during important periods of their life and create effective interventions to support them.
My qualified teaching status (QTLS) has prepared me to follow a good teaching practice. I quality assure work and differentiate resources for SEN students. I focus on personalised academic and pastoral interventions for pupils with the objective to support the student to make progress.

Teaching draws from creativity which I’m able to develop through imaginative lessons with clear learner outcomes and have high expectations of resources that I produce for my lessons.

Experience: I have worked in diverse settings such as a special needs school, a behaviour unit, and mainstream schools. I believe that in order to support pupils with SEN requires creativity, knowledge of the diagnosis and the understanding of the wider influence of the pupil`s life.

I currently work with students with autism (ASD), pupils with ADHD/ODD, dyslexia, undiagnosed SEN, emotional behaviour difficulties (EBD), global development delay, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), speech and language and attachment disorder. I work with pupils from primary and secondary schools. My work consists of 1:1 teaching and observing the pupil in the classroom setting. I also work with the family and create effective strategies for the teacher and pupil to use. I work very closely with external agencies such as educational psychologist, occupational therapists, child and adult mental health service (CAMHS) and social workers in monitoring the pupil`s SEN during Annual reviews. Alongside the academic aspect of my role, I also monitor students with SEN (education health care plan) that are home educated. I create resources and meet with the families to discuss the pupil`s development.
