My name is Susie - I am a extremely experienced and fully qualified Teacher of English and a Senior GCSE Examiner. Skilled in making both pupils/learners and parents feel quickly at ease. I am very approachable and always enjoy a good rapport with my students - many of whom return year after year for help with the next stage of their educational journey.

Passionate about the benefits of tuition, I believe that an expert tutor can provide an opportunity to not only achieve targets, but to exceed them. The ability to communicate is fundamental to a pupil’s whole school success! Here at Penketh English Tuition, I work with pupils from Year 7 upwards; improving both written and comprehension skills, to facilitate success. “Susie has been an absolute God send over the last few months tutoring my 13 year old boy with his reading during lockdown. My son really struggled to read even simple texts when school finished in March and his confidence, vocabulary, comprehension and reading speed were well below where he should have been for his age group. Like many parents my wife and I found it incredibly difficult to get him to do any schoolwork during lockdown and it was a source of several rows. What Susie brought to this was an incredible ability to engage with our son without getting frustrated with him and to get him switched on to reading - which he previously considered "boring and for nerds". I have over nine years successful English Tuition experience, coupled with 10 years classroom teaching experience. I am experienced in GCSE coaching, KS3 tuition, KS2 Sats preparation
and A level training and degree English. I am also able to teach phonics and help children to learn to read.

I have been engaged as a part-time Teacher of English at a local high school over the past six years - enjoying repeated success in helping pupils achieve outstanding levels of progress. I am also a senior examiner for a GCSE board and have a considerable amount of experience in preparing students for their exams. I have also taught English for business and academic purposes and as a second language.
