Information about Brice
I am currently a 4th year medical student at University College London with an intercalated BSc degree in Neuroscience. Drawing from my own experiences in the education system, and tutoring a variety of students, I have personally observed the satisfaction and pride that stems from teamwork between the tutee and the tutor.
I believe that it is imperative to provide the tutee with an environment and the tools necessary to thrive independently. The tutee should be supported and allowed to reach a point of academic self-confidence where constant monitoring by parents and teachers becomes no longer necessary.
Efficiency and good time management skills are crucial to success and I believe that it is essential to provide tutees with the motivation to study effectively and thus maximize their full potential.
Tutoring should allow both parties feeling enriched, having finished the session with new insight on a particular topic or a specific concept. But more importantly that the tutee should feel both stimulated and enjoyment from their learning.
Ultimately, it is paramount that the tutee is allowed to learn at their own pace and develop confidence in their own inability. Furthermore, the hardships of securing a medical school place are still fresh in my mind thus putting me in an ideal position to mentor students following a similar pursuit.
Availability: I am available for evening tutoring between the hours of 6-8pm week days. My availability for weekend appointments ranges between 10am to 5pm.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: Substantial experience having tutored for the last 6 years consistently in the following subjects
- Primary Maths English and Science (>60 hours)
- KS3 Maths, Biology and Chemistry (>100 hours)
- GCSE Maths, Biology and Chemistry (>100)
- A level Maths Biology and Chemistry (>20 hours)
- 11+ Preparation (>50)
Furthermore I`ve also provided more than 20 hours worth of tutorials for Medical School entry. This has involved personal statement writing, UKCAT and BMAT preparation and also interview preparation
Having started in September 2016, I am a transition mentor at UCL providing academic and pastoral support for 11 first year medical students on a weekly basis.
In the past, I have also volunteered for Whitgift SNAP, helping out at a holiday scheme for disabled children which was an enjoyable experience.
As a member of the UCL Medical football society (RUMS FC) I have participated in a scheme to teach primary school children football and teamwork drills alongside other volunteers.
