Information about Emma

Between 2009-2016 I attended James Allen`s Girls` School where in my final year I was elected Head Girl as well as being an academic scholar. Being Head Girl was an extremely rewarding experience and something I really enjoyed doing. While there I attained 10 A*s at GCSE and A*A*A at A-level, including 100% in A2 economics as well as representing the school at 1st team level for Netball. I have currently returned from travelling for my gap year. I spent 3 months as a class room assistant mentoring specific children in an highly regarded International School in China as well as travelling for 3 months round Africa. I will be going to Durham University to study History.

Availability: I am very flexible in terms of the times to tutor during the week. Usually I do not tutor on weekends but this can be changed if necessary.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: Throughout my school life I have developed and honed my tutoring skills. I ran a lunchtime German club for a year teaching beginners German as well as volunteering on a scheme for underprivileged children. Last summer, I taught in Romania for two weeks with disabled children. This really enabled me to improve my communication skills and taught me how to draw up effective and personalised lesson plans which keep the student engaged. This summer I regularly tutored a girl on common entrance, providing not only academic help but support and guidance during a stressful period. In addition, as part of my Gap year I spent 3 months working in an International school working with secondary aged children providing support to a variety of children of all abilities and ages.
