Information about Shannon
I graduated from Cambridge University with a First Class History BA degree in 2021 and I am currently offering tutoring over the summer holidays. I have over four years of tutoring experience, mostly online, and I teach a range of subjects: Maths, History, Politics, Spanish, Science, English, 11+ prep, 13+ prep, SATs prep and Oxbridge entrance prep. I can be flexible with lessons; I can offer intensive tutoring with several sessions per week, or just the occasional session when extra help is needed. I aim to strip subjects down to the logic as a starting point, so that my students have a fundamental understanding which they can then build on at school. I offer a half price trial lesson so you can see if we`re a good match.
I track my students` progress through assessments, asking lots of questions and encouraging them in return. I would say my key strength is my ability to quickly identify my tutees` areas for improvement. I would describe myself as committed and diligent, as demonstrated by my academic record. I am a good listener, a good communicator and I have plenty of patience. I am also fun and engaging and my lessons are relaxed and varied, not strict or dry. My lessons feature lots of discussion work and there is no `right and wrong`, but at the same time, I maintain a consistent focus on exam technique.
