Information about Sujata
I HAVE BOTH TAUGHT AND BEEN AN AQA EXAMINER FOR THE NEW GCSE ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE CURRICULUM INTRODUCED IN 2017.
I have been teaching GCSE English Language & Literature for 7 years and have tutored part-time for two years. I am also a qualified Specialist Leader in Education and a GCSE examiner in English for the AQA board. I teach GCSE English language and literature to students ranging from year 7 (11yrs) to year 11 (16yrs) on a full time basis. As well as these school classes, I enjoy teaching one to one a great deal and always look forward to helping my students to reach their highest potential.
My hobbies include: directing and performing Shakespearean drama, reading European and Post-colonial literature, cooking, growing my own vegetables through a hydroponic system and making hand designed/woven rugs.
As well as a full-time teacher of English, I have also been part of the `learning leader` team within my school which entails providing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) to all members of staff within my school and mentoring 10-12 of these throughout the year. I also offer support to newly qualified teachers and cover teachers as well as providing training as part of the teaching and learning team to LSA staff helping them to improve their practice in working with professional teachers and their assigned SEN students. My other role within the school is the EAL (English as an Additional Language) coordinator which entails identifying, training and supporting staff who teach students for whom English is a second language and students who struggle with spoken and written English.

Sujata is very knowledgeable, organised and has a sense of humour. My child has benefited from her depth of knowledge of the exam texts & poetry. Sujata has also broken down exam technique in a clear and understandable way. My child is working in a very targeted way and their confidence has improved greatly and quickly. I would recommend Sujata.

Unfortunately It didnt work for us, 1out of 4 session was informative rests was a waste! Neither my child was tested for his knowledge nor was provided any program /structure during these 4 session. She literally made him copy notes during lessons which I believe that should have been emailed to us , thus my son would be well prepared and ready for making most of his lesson rewarding.
Tutors Response :
It was a shame that I was only given 4 lessons (before giving up) to teach a year 11 student foundation material that would normally take 2 years tutoring to complete. Hence important note taking on key areas for revision was essential before commencing with answering the actual exam papers using strategies learnt. Almost ALL students that are emailed these materials end up either losing them or never really read/revise them - if they manage to find them at all on their computors before their exams. It`s far too easy for young people (with other subjects to revise and pressure from teachers at school) to just get it all handed over and stored for sometime never when they have the time to take a look. There are plenty of papers online to print off and store if this is a preferred method. I`m here to go through and teach each point written down and make sure the student is absolutely crystal clear before moving on. Copying down whilst discussing/clarifying carefully has been the most productive way in my 30 years experience as a teacher. As an examiner for AQA, my ultimate aim is to develope an independent thinker who will go through each exam paper with confidence and gain fantastic grades. I wish Kyra every success with his GCSEs. He is a lovely polite young man who will do well.
