Information about Steven
Hello, given the current situation I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well. I am still available to tutor but given the current situation I tutor via video link. I was tutoring this way long before the current situation arose and over the years I have developed methods that make this approach very effective for students.
This is a very important time for all year groups as clearly they have missed a lot of school. It is especially important for year 11 and 13 who have exams this academic year - and they have been considerably disadvantaged by being unable to go to school for months. It is also a serious problem for year 12 taking science or maths at A level as those lost months of school create a poor start to A level. However, I can help you ! An hour (or two) each week of lessons with me will make a lot of difference.
I am a fully qualified and very experienced professional Science and Maths teacher and tutor. I am also an examiner - I mark real GCSE exam papers for one of the largest exam boards. I understand that leaning one-to-one can be daunting for some students but you will find me both friendly and patient. I have a strong academic background (Master of Science with Distinction and Bachelor of Science with Honours) and from my many years in teaching a deep understanding of Science and Maths, and how students can misunderstand them. These strengths together with my excellent tried and tested teaching skills have been very successful in allowing me to tutor young people and help them improve their grades at KS3, GCSE and A level.

Experience: I am a fully qualified and enthusiastic teacher with 10+ years experience as a classroom teacher. I have taught in several different schools and across all secondary Key Stages, from KS3 through GCSE to A level. I have also been head of A level Physics. I am an experienced tutor who has helped students make significant progress and improve their grades.
My approach to tutoring:
Science and Maths are fun, and learning them should be engaging and interesting too. When tutoring, I seeks to uncover a student`s weaknesses and then help them to improve whilst enjoying the process of learning.
Why choose me?
Being a professional teacher means that I have a deep understanding of:
* The subject.
* Specifically what needs to be learnt for your exam (the specification).
* Different teaching and learning techniques to help young people learn.
Many tutors are not qualified teachers and cannot provide ALL of the above - there is a big difference between understanding the subject and being able to teach it effectively...
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile, whether you choose me as your tutor or not I wish you good luck !

Steven is extremely thorough and well prepared. He is well informed on likely exam topics, and relates very well to our Son. Midway through GCSEs, our son feels more confident in approaching the exams and well prepared, therefore not nervous or anxious - applying the knowledge and principles he has learnt from Steven.
