Information about Oliver
After a few years away from Tutorhunt and the UK, I have returned to tutor UK students. I have over 11 years of tutoring experience and 6 years of classroom teaching in top UK and international schools. I began my career teaching Mathematics and Physics at Brighton College and Whitgift School in the UK, before moving abroad to teach at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi and Brighton Grammar School in Melbourne. This range of experience has given me a strong understanding of different curricula and how best to support students of all abilities.
I offer tutoring in Mathematics and Physics at KS3, GCSE, and A-Level. My own academic background includes:
11 A* and A grades at GCSE
A* in A-Level Mathematics, with As in Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
First Class Honours in Physics (BSc) from the University of Bath
PGCE in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge
As a tutor, I am approachable, supportive, and highly focused on tailoring each lesson to the needs of the individual. My students benefit from clear explanations, structured practice, and strategies to build confidence and exam technique.

Alongside my classroom teaching, I have helped many individual students achieve their goals in both Physics and Mathematics at GCSE and A-Level. A few recent examples include:
A-Level Physics One student progressed from an E grade to a C, gaining the grade needed to continue into their chosen university course.
A-Level Mathematics A student working at a C grade improved to an A through focused work on exam technique and problem-solving strategies.
A-Level Mathematics (Further Maths option) Supported a student struggling with Mechanics who went from low C grades in assessments to achieving a B overall, securing entry into engineering.
GCSE Mathematics Several students have each improved by at least one grade within a year, with one student moving from a predicted grade 5 to achieving a 7 in their final exam.
GCSE Physics All of my students over the past two years have improved their results, with many achieving or exceeding the grades needed for sixth form or further study.
In every case, I focus not only on developing subject knowledge but also on teaching how to revise effectively, how to approach exam questions, and how to stay motivated. I believe students succeed most when they understand why they want to do well and feel supported in building the confidence to get there.
