Information about Carole

Hi there,
I`m a retired languages teacher who is really missing teaching! I love explaining grammar and helping students understand the complexities of the language. I have taught all age groups and levels, from primary to GCSE, A level and International Baccalaureate. I have tutored for GCSE and A level and have found this personal, one to one approach particularly rewarding. I tailor my lessons to the needs of the individual and the particular exam board they are studying. I plan each lesson to include listening, speaking, reading and writing practice and of course I set homework!
I`m friendly, approachable and keen to help.

Availability: Monday to Thursday 11.30am to 6.30pm

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: Taught in comprehensive schools, one of which was a specialist language college, in Nottinghamshire for 32 years

Held various positions of responsibility including Assistant Headteacher

BSc(Hons)IIi in French and Russian with German as a subsidiary

We engaged the services of Carole when our son started his French GCSE course in Year 10 in September 2018. We felt that he needed individual tuition to allow him more opportunities to speak French on a one to one basis, and to build up his confidence with both the spoken and written language. Carole was very patient and really helped him to understand the various tenses in detail, something that you don`t necessarily have time for in a larger class setting, before changing topics. He was set weekly homework which allowed Carole to understand where more targeted help was required etc. The weekly lessons proved to be very useful as our son has gained a grade 8 in his French exam, which he is really pleased with. We would have no hesitation in recommending Carole as a tutor, and have already engaged her services to help our daughter who has missed a great deal of French due to the schools coronavirus shutdown.
