Information about Minhaz
I am currently studying in my final year of medicine after already graduating from Biomedical science a few years ago. At GCSE I achieved A*s in all 3 sciences as well as A*`s in maths and English.
After already completing 1 degree and almost finishing a 2nd, it has allowed me to develop unique and effective ways of learning that have worked well to get me this far! My aim is to be able to combine my university learning experience with my secondary school learning experience to deliver lessons in a way that is easy to understand, but also pushes you to reach your maximum potential! I understand the importance of having an encouraging and motivating learning atmosphere in lessons as I have struggled before with bad grades, and in those moments , I was lucky enough to have some great teachers who were able to keep me motivated. I aim to not only help you with learning methods and knowledge, but also by developing a mentality which gives you the confidence to believe in your own ability to succeed. This mentality will not only help you to succeed in your upcoming exams, but also later in life when you face even more difficult academic challenges!
My lessons consist of starting with a basic quiz or some questions on the topic we aim to cover to establish your current level of understanding. After this, we would go through some real exam questions where you will first have the opportunity to attempt the questions, and then we will go through them together. This will help me to identify any weaknesses you have with exam technique and subject knowledge. If there is an area of particular weakness found from the exam questions, I will provide tailored and detailed teaching until it is made clear and you are 100% confident on it. Throughout the session, you will be encouraged to ask questions as this is the best way for you to learn!
I have an extensive knowledge of biology and chemistry curriculums in particular as I studied them at both A level and GCSE. Additionally, I have been tutoring many subjects for the past 5 months, so now have a more up to date awareness of your curriculum.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have been tutoring as a job for around 5 months now. This has been a big success, and many students have wished we could have had more sessions together as they were able to understand topics they had been struggling with in school for years. Separate to this, I have had many teaching experiences throughout my academic life. During my GCSEs and A levels, I would frequently spend time teaching friends topics which they struggled with and this is where I first discovered my passion and skills for teaching. Furthermore, in my biomedical science degree, we were regularly required to present teaching to groups of students as a lecture; this increased my confidence at being able to explain complicated concepts in an easy to understand way. Currently in my medical degree, I have had opportunities to teach my peers in small group teaching sessions in which each of us have to teach about a topic weekly. In addition, on hospital placements, I have come across medical students in the years below who were struggling with a particular area of medicine and been able to teach them there too.
