Information about Shyla

I`m a final-year Mathematics and Statistics student at Queen Mary, University of London, finishing in the top 5% of my cohort, and I`ll be starting a Master`s in Statistics at the London School of Economics this autumn. I achieved a grade 9 at GCSE and an A at A-Level in Maths, so I know exactly what students need to succeed at every stage.

But qualifications aside, what I really care about is the student in front of me. Over 3 years and 200+ lessons, I`ve worked with learners of all ages and abilities, from primary school children taking their first steps in Maths to university undergraduates. I take the time to understand how each student thinks, where their confidence is lacking, and what will actually help things click for them.

Parents often tell me their children come away from sessions feeling genuinely excited about Maths, rather than dreading it. I believe every student is capable of more than they think, and my job is to show them that.

Availability: Please check my timetable for my current availability or send me a message! All my sesssion are conducted online.

Experience: I have extensive experience in tutoring Mathematics and the 11+ exam, having delivered over 200 online lessons to students across a wide range of levels and abilities. I have supported students preparing for 11+ entrance exams, as well as those studying Primary, KS3, GCSE (Mathematics, Statistics, Further Mathematics), A Level Mathematics, and undergraduate mathematics.

My teaching approach is tailored to each student, typically working with them regularly each week to ensure steady progress through the syllabus. Many of my students have gone on to achieve top grades and successfully secure offers from grammar schools. I am familiar with a wide range of exam boards, allowing me to adapt my teaching to specific course requirements.

Sessions are carefully structured around each student’s needs, whether that involves building strong foundations or pushing towards top grades. I focus on developing a deep understanding rather than rote memorisation. We work through concepts together, identify gaps in knowledge, and practise exam technique in a clear and methodical way.
