Information about Helen
I`ve worked with children for over 30 years as a nanny, a teacher and a tutor and Im also a qualified children`s counsellor.
I kind of got into tutoring by accident by helping the daughter of a friend with her maths homework. I started off with that one child while teaching full time 10 years ago and I gradually took on more and more children over the coming years while my days in school teaching classes decreased to the point where I am now just tutoring. I do a mixture of private tuition at home and one to one and small group work two days a week at an independent school.
I absolutely love my work and feel that I can really make a difference to the lives of the children I teach.

Experience: I`m a qualified and experienced primary school teacher and tutor. I`ve taught in London primary schools both in the state and the independent sector since 1992. For the last 15 years I`ve also worked part time as a maths and literacy tutor.
In literacy I tutor up to year 6 KS2 and in maths up to GCSE.
Over the past 10 years I have tutored many children for the 11+ for both private and State schools (North London Girls Consortium) City, St Pauls, Highgate and also for Latymer School). I have lots of experience tutoring for both the KS1 and KS2 SATS.
I get a lot of children coming to me who are really struggling with maths in particular and their confidence has plummeted. I spend a lot of time going over the basics and helping to boost their confidence and their belief in themselves.
I start off where each child is at in terms of their learning and work from there.
To get the best out of children I firmly believe you need a mixture of patience, kindness and laughter in equal measures.
