After qualifying as an NQT I worked in a primary school in central London, however decided to leave when I started having my children. Over this time, I worked as a tutor in a private capacity and went on to teach groups of home educated children which I found to be equally challenging and exciting in its own way.

I decided to home educate my own children as I had moved abroad and because I had the opportunity to travel and see the world with them. Back in the UK, I set up the AHEAd group with another home educating teacher where we ran a little “school” of our own so as to provide the children with social and group learning opportunities. During this time, I tutored children in preparation for the 11+ entrance exams, including my own children, who both secured places in two of the UK’s top 10 schools.

I continued my own professional development in holistic therapies, started a small family business selling health foods and am currently completing a part time diploma in Therapeutic Counselling with the longer-term goal of working with young people to support their mental health needs as a school counsellor. I have always found working with young people incredibly rewarding and am looking forward to return to teaching with all the insight I have gained though my life’s journey thus far.

Creative Writing Workshops
- Developed my own Creative Writing workshops, with resources, used to take children through a step by step process on how to write creatively and use their writing to express themselves.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen and communicate with others, whether students, parents, teachers, or administrators.

Co-founder and Class teacher at AHEAd
- AHEAd (Active Home Education Adventures) was created to provide a group learning environment and social support structure for home schooling families who required opportunities for their children to meet others, while being supported with group learning opportunities in the core subjects.
- Responsibilities included planning and delivery of regular sessions in core areas, organising off site workshops and opportunities to provide the children to engage with other children.
- Established a division of Scouts that ran weekly, specifically for Home-educated children.

- Gained NQT status while teaching Year 4 class, then went on to teach Year 5, and became head of R.E, while training with the SEN co-ordinator.

- Fill in for classroom teachers who are absent, working in different year groups, with the need to adapt quickly to different teaching styles and curriculum.
