Information about Adam

I graduated with a first class Mathematics degree in 2008 and completed a PhD in Mathematics (Thesis title: Conditioning of the Data Assimilation for Numerical Weather Prediction) at the end of 2015, both from the University of Reading. I have worked since 2015 as a post-doctoral researcher on various projects including; Coronal mass ejections from the Sun and space weather, Mars weather research and European Reanalysis Uncertainty Quantification systems for weather forecasts. I have been an active Scientist for the last 10 years. This means not only am I very well versed in the academic disciplines of Science, but I have plenty of experience with programming complex Scientific models in Linux using Python, Matlab, C, Fortran, Csh/Ksh/Bash.

I have 15+ years of experience tutoring and mentoring young adults and children ranging from 7-30 years old as a side venture while undertaking research projects simply because I love teaching! I love having the privilege to contribute the future`s young minds who have a thirst for knowledge.

The levels I have taught range from 11+ (11 plus) candidates, those preparing for Maths challenges (all UKMTs, ie. Olympiad, IMC etc), GCSE, Cambridge STEP, A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, and BSc. In addition to private tuition, I have also taught BSc students for 4 years while at University in lecture-supplementary class groups. The modules I am well versed are as follows:

Theory of Data Assimilation
Numerical Analysis
Finite Difference Techniques (particularly for Meteorological weather models, Oceans, etc)
Partial and Ordinary Differential Equations
Bayesian Theory and Statistics
Initial and Boundary Value Problems
Vector Calculus
Theory of Quantum Mechanics

I provoke excellence and tap into the strengths of my students by challenging them and allowing them to naturally evolve in a way best suited to their psychological architecture. I also have a track record of guiding people along their natural grain, pushing them towards their natural strengths.

I make an effort to make my lessons not only fun, but relatable to the real world. I create an interactive environment to keep them involved and make them feel that they are learning it themselves with me gently guiding their path.

Adam is a great physics tutor. He helped to break down intimidating and tricky concepts into explanations which our daughter can easily understand. Lessons are interactive and engaging. With his help, A Level Physics has become a much less daunting challenge for our daughter.
