Information about Mathew
I am a PhD student at the University of Essex. My research is based in neuroscience, and therefore I have a good background in psychology, statistics, and human anatomy.
Despite this, my real passion is English Literature. I have studied several linguistics modules at university and have recently been accepted onto a teaching training (PGCE secondary English) place at Cambridge University commencing in September 2017. Consequently, I am as comfortable teaching English literature and language as I am teaching Psychology and Neuroscience.
Availability: I am very flexible and can work around your schedule as required. I am available weekdays, Saturday mornings, and during school holiday time.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I am a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Essex and therefore I am responsible for leading discussions in seminars and helping students with their course queries. Furthermore, this role also requires me to mark the essays of my tutor group this involves assigning grades and providing extensive feedback to students and helping struggling students to develop individual learning strategies as required.
Additionally, I have recently been accepted onto a PGCE place at Cambridge University for Secondary English therefore, I have completed many hours classroom observation in English and am very comfortable with the current GCSE specifications.
