Information about Daniel

I am a professional tutor who graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelors of Science (Advanced) in Theoretical Physics and Pure Mathematics. I grew my passion for maths and science as an adult, and thus had to go back and learn it all later on. I know the difficulty of feeling behind and needing to catch up, and I also know what it takes to work hard to push my grades higher so I can reach my goals. I had to work hard to achieve an Australian ATAR of 99.55 (A*A*A equivalent) in Maths Studies, Maths Specialist, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. I then pushed myself to do a double major at university, including doing an extra semester of work in the standard time-frame. I know what it takes to catch up in your studies, and also to get ahead. I want to work with you to help brings your grades up, or to push you to the heights that you seek.

My goal is to help my students achieve their aims. I believe in person 1-1 tuition is likely best for any student, but I am flexible with approach, including with online lessons. I want to help you succeed, and whichever style works best for us, then that is the one we should proceed with.

Experience: I have tutored both privately and professionally since 2017. I have taught high school maths up to university maths.

Tutor: Tutors Green: 2023 - Present
Through Tutors Green I tutor in two schools in south London. This involves two different class styles. For one school, I teach groups of three students in the morning to help boost their GCSE grades. I do this for 5 groups of 3, for 15 students in total. At the other school, I tutor individual lessons to students with special education needs. I tutor three students through this. Although they are at GCSE age, they are significantly behind in their maths education, and I am working with them to help boost their knowledge and understanding.

Casual Academic Staff Member: The University of Adelaide: 2021
I provided drop-in assistance for students with assignment work and general class content in first year mathematics class work. This involved helping students improve their maths writing, provide hints and direction for how to approach problems, explain difficult concepts, and provide improvised tutorial/assignment style questions to either demonstrate or deepen understanding. I also performed marking of student assignments.

Private Tutoring: 2017-2021:
I have tutored multiple students privately. I have tutored a boy (age ~14) who wanted to improve his maths abilities to get into a specialist science school (which he did). I also tutored a girl in her Australian Year 11 (equivalent to first year of A-levels) Chemistry and Biology, as she wanted to improve to A level grades. I have also privately tutored University first year maths, as a student approached me through my University work for private instruction.
