Claudia (Tutor in London)
I started to work in Multilingua, a language institute in Guildford, as a German tutor and since then added to my qualifications in many different ways.
Apart form starting as a teacher for adult learners I soon expanded into German for GCSE and A-Level.
I completed different courses in German grammar, German literature and business German. I love teaching German and enjoy seeing people succeed.
At the moment I am writing my own language course as I always feel there is something missing. I have prepared my own teaching materials to use alongside the curriculum or books I use for teaching.
I have successfully prepared students for the chamber of commerce examination board as well as the standard grades of A1-C2 in adult education.
It is very rewarding to see my GCSE and A-level students doing so well and surpassing their predicted grades passing mainly with As and A*s. Some coming through from lower grades and passing with B-A*. They are all working very hard and I am very proud of them!
I have been conducting German AQA GCSE German exams this year which was a great experience and very rewarding.
Information about Claudia
I am a native German tutor and language specialist and have been running my own language company for 24 years in the UK, specialising in German tuition, translation and interpreting. Altogether, I have been involved with teaching German for 28 years now.
Lately I have been conducting German AQA Speaking exams which is a great addition to my portfolio.
I help people speak German like a native! Apart from individually detailed levels described below I conduct courses on speaking in groups online and offline which helps everyone at whichever level you are learning German.
Being a German language specialist I teach German at any level - KS3, GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, Adult learning, Corporate and holiday German.
You can never learn German too early. There is a lot to go through until students will finally do their GCSEs or IGCSEs - it is advisable to give your children the best opportunity to be great in their exams.
I found that it really is important having a native German tutor as it gives your lessons a certain edge and precision. Some of the corrected work coming back from schools often still needs a good work over especially for written and spoken exam preparation.
This is an incredible step up from GCSE and you really need to choose your tutor wisely. A native German speaker is irreplaceable as the level of German is of a very high standard. Don`t leave it too late! All to often students come half way through their A-Levels realizing they need the extra help and more expertise. The grammar, speaking, writing, listening and reading is just at the highest of standards!
Adult tuition and corporate tuition:
I have been teaching in companies for many years and teach all levels of German from beginner to advanced in groups and 1-2-1. I designed my own language programme and materials to give you the opportunity to achieve the level of German you require. Lessons run alongside the European Framework of A1-C2 which is a great foundation in case you want or need to take an exam for work or personal reasons.
Being a native German speaker certainly has the advantage to keep the German taught at the highest level and to bring across German authenticity.
Learning a language is a great asset for travelling or doing business. It gives you the opportunity to communicate better with locals or staying ahead of the game in a business meeting.
I believe learning a language should be fun and involve a lot of speaking to practise the newly learned knowledge and be able to make use of it very quickly. The lessons will be designed specifically around you and your needs, incorporating various types of learning tools using a personalised, supportive and friendly approach.
It is great fun and satisfying to see people learn German and helping them to fulfil their goals.
As mentioned below I also teach online if required which has prooved to be a very successful way of teaching while people are on business trips, out of the country or simply live too far away. Most of my GCSE and A-Level students are learning German online as there are not enough native German tutors around.
To substitute face-to-face lessons with online tuition while people are away really does help the momentum - though in the end it is all up to you.
I have to say I have certainly been teaching at some strange hours of the day - depending on the time differences! It`s all good fun.
Availability: weekdays at flexible hours from early morning to late evening, Saturday morning and some afternoons
I am available to teach weekdays at various times during the day and evening.
On weekends I am available during the morning - and some afternoons.
I usually do not teach on Sunday.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I started teaching German in Multilingua, a language institute in Guildford, and after 4 years decided to open my own language company. I have now been teaching German for 28 years to help students to reach their personal goals.
One of my main fields when I started teaching was in-company training for business people, but also private adult students. Some students would be prepared for the Chamber of Commerce Examinations. Whether you are looking for A1 to C2 qualifications, I can certainly help you with that.
At the moment, I have various adult learners some of them who are already working in Germany some days of the week or are planning to work in Germany or Austria.
Also, I have been doing a lot of translations in different topics for companies I have worked in, as well as some interpreting contracts.
For many years now I have also been teaching younger students to help prepare for their GCSEs, IGCSEs and A-levels. I found that being a native speaker makes a huge difference as some German in schools needs some TLC. At the moment, I am preparing my son for his A-levels. Last year he completed his GCSE with A*-I expected nothing less- without him having lessons at school. I must say it was a very different way of teaching.
I have been proud of all my students last year who have done extremely well, reaching or exceeding their personal goals. Both in school exams and exams at the Goethe Institute. Everyone worked very hard!
This is an exciting time - June - where most of my students have completed their exams. All have been working so hard. I am sorry to see those students leave who are not continuing German in school - I do get attached and will miss them though I wish them all the best in the future.
On a different note, I have been teaching German to families and have had a lot of interest for teaching German to the younger school age.

Claudia made a huge difference to my son`s GCSE preparation. She gave him.the confidence to.approach the lessons which immediately made gis grade at school way better. I would strongly recommend her
My daughter in Year10 had around 4 lessons so far and found it really helpful. Claudia is very organised in her teaching style, gives material and homework. Also, she offers to help if any questions outside of tuition. Surely recommended.
Claudia is an amazing teacher. She is very professional, kind, friendly and patient. I am so happy I am having lessons with her. I couldn`t be more satisfied. I would definitely recommend her 100%!
Claudia has been utterly brilliant - I`m delighted that she reached out to me, after I joined the site to find a German tutor.
She takes time to understand and know your needs in an initial conversation and creates an appropriate plan to help you achieve individual goals. She is extremely personable, providing excellent support, and always goes the extra mile to mark homework and answer questions between lessons.
Further, with the foundation of a recommended book, she adds her own study materials to augment individual learning needs.
Her friendly nature puts you at ease from the first lesson, which makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable - I cannot recommend her highly enough.
Very pleased so far
Claudia is a very helpful tutor. Very pleasant and friendly. She explains thing so well to my son that even I was starting to learn! in just a few weeks my sons grade was increasing.
I would strongly recommend her to anyone needing help with German.
An excellent tutor! I would recommend her to anyone! Within days my daughter was able to speak phrases in German.
Great tutor and learning materials. Claudia works around my complicated work schedule and is always at hand via email etc
As an adult learner, I find that Claudia has a flexible and resourceful approach to teaching. Enabling me to expand my vocabulary relatively quickly, and work in a way that suits me.
I would have no hesitations recommending Claudia. She is very encouraging to my daughter, quickly working out her strengths and weaknesses and how to help her. She is very clear explaining points of grammar using lots of resources and of course it is such an advantage having a native speaker tutoring you.
Claudia is one of the best German tutors I have seen so far. My son was not confident with German and the final exam was only four months away. Claudia taught him well and also made him to do well in his School. She made my son pretty confident in German in a span of four months and he scored A* in the GCSC (2015) exams. If any of my friends looking for an efficient and effective German Teacher, I only recommend Claudia.
Only two lessons in, but so far so good. I feel I`ve learned a fair amount already, and find her friendly and easy to get on with, and will be continuing the lessons
Claudia is proving to be a very good tutor for my Daughter. She is approaching the language in a different way which is much more suited to her way of learning. She now learning German not just to pass the gcse
Mrs Dickson is very friendly and teaches/explains everything clearly. This helps me to grasp the necessary information quickly.
