Information about Ellis

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. My name is Ellis, and I am a qualified secondary school science teacher with 4 years of direct teaching experience. I am a young and enthusiastic teacher with a real love for science and a love for teaching. I want to offer students the extra support they may need to achieve their academic goals and pursue their future in science.

I like to create a relaxed learning environment where the students and I can discuss openly what they think. I much prefer setting problem solving tasks rather than lecturing or recalling facts, that is how pupils learn best by maximising the use of their neural pathways.

Each tutee is different so I am flexible and adaptable so that I can plan sessions that best suit the student.

I am offering online or face to face lessons with either individuals or groups.

Availability: Weekday evenings after 3:30
Weekdays during school holidays.

Willing to travel: 8 miles

Experience: I am a science teacher who has work in a variety of different schools, including a department which boasts the best science results in Southampton for progress. I teach all three sciences from KS3 up to GCSE level but am a specialist in physics. Over the course of my career, I have had expirience in a variety of different learning environments with a wide range of personalities. Prior to completing my PGCE at the university of Southampton, I enroled onto the university`s physics subect knowledge enhancement (SKE) course. Run by the PGCE tutors, this course helped to familiarise me with the recently updated physics curriculum up to A-level, learn and practise the most effective teaching methods for some of the more conceptualy difficult topics and allow me to enter my PGCE year as a physics specialist.
