Information about Luke
I recently graduated with a degree in Modern Languages from Cambridge (Portuguese & French), and I have experience teaching French, Portuguese and English as a foreign language to a variety of different levels, from complete beginner to advanced.
I am currently studying for an MA in Education and International Development at UCL Institute of Education.
I live in Archway, Islington, and I am willing to travel to anywhere in Zone 2 for tutoring.
Availability: I am currently free every weekday, with the exception of Tuesday and Thursday evening.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have a large amount of teaching experience, both in the classroom and on a one-on-one basis. I have twice volunteered as an English teacher in Ethiopia, first as the Team Leader of a group of university students at a three-week summer school in the town of Bahir Dar, and then as part of a two-month research project investigating the ways in which modern technology can be used to improve the Ethiopian education system. In addition, during my university Year Abroad, I worked as an English, Portuguese and Maths teacher at the Casa Grande Association, a small NGO in the Northeast of Brazil which functions as an after-school club and activity centre for children from the local area. Back in England, I spent a year working as a Languages and Maths tutor on the mentoring scheme at my secondary school and Sixth Form. I then assumed the role of Numeracy Coordinator, which involved traveling to local primary schools and working as a classroom assistant, helping children with their Maths classwork and marking their homework.
