I’m Maria, I have great experience working as a tutor! I have just finished my master`s degree in Biochemistry at the University of Bristol and earned a first class honours! I really enjoy helping other people learn and hope to improve student’s confidence during their studies as well as teach in an engaging way. I have helped students achieve the grades they deserve, including a student going from a grade 3 to a grade 5 in a GCSE maths resit exam in just 2 months and another student achieving a grade 7 in their Biology mock exam from having a grade 3 at the beginning of the year. Since I have very recently been a student, I find that I can engage with students in a more relatable way and introduce them to things that helped me achieve my good grades. I have tutored many different age groups previously, both online and in person, throughout University.

I aim to deliver well-organised lessons and ensure extra resources are provided at the end. I ask the students the area they want to focus on or follow what they are focusing on in the school curriculum. At the beginning of the lesson, I usually go through any questions the student has from work I set the previous week or school homework. Moving on to the main part of the lesson, I thoroughly go through the chosen topic and ensure I give questions or past papers at the end and homework. After 5 sessions I give the student questions on what we have been focusing on for the past 5 sessions for testing and consolidation, which I believe is essential.

I also have previously coached tennis for several years so am experienced in working with children. Further, being bilingual has also helped me with my tutoring.

I thoroughly enjoyed my school experience and I hope to make a difference the same way to my students!

Availability: I am currently freely available Monday to Sunday, 9am - 7pm.

Experience: I have done many online and face to face lessons with students in different age groups throughout University. For the past 2 years I have been doing 5 hours a week both online and in person.
I have also done tennis coaching with children for several years, and so very experienced with teaching younger age groups.
