Information about Ashleigh

I am an enthusiastic graduate of English from the University of Cambridge offering support with English (Lit and Lang), Creative Writing, Singing and Acting, with five years` experience tutoring online. During my studies, my main interests lay in modern and contemporary poetry, early modern drama (particularly Shakespeare) and postcolonial literatures, although I received a grounding in all periods of writing over the course of my BA. During my time at Cambridge I was also heavily involved with the university`s prolific theatre scene, becoming a member of the Cambridge Footlights and debuting the role of Anne Boleyn in the now hit musical SiX. I have since gone on to graduate with a distinction in musical theatre from Mountview Academy`s MA programme. Most recently, I have been working as a copyist for Accolade Press, writing highly reviewed revision guides for texts on AQA`s GCSE syllabus.

Availability: I am very flexible with regard to lesson times at the moment, but in response to government guidelines on social distancing am currently only able to conduct tutorials online for the foreseeable future.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: I have been tutoring both online and in person for five years via a number of different platforms, receiving five-star reviews and excellent feedback.

From 2016-2017 I worked as a student mentor for the Linacre Institute, a charity organisation striving to give northern state-school students the confidence to apply to leading universities and the skills to thrive there. In 2018 I returned to the programme as Head of Languages, which involved leading discussions and guiding students through essentials of essay-writing, argument construction and deep, focussed literary analysis. I have been offering tuition on entry examinations and interviews since. Some feedback from the programme includes the following:

`The teaching was absolutely top class and they helped push our minds in order to explore new ideas more than we believed was possible.`

`The teaching was outstanding and I found that I was pushed beyond my comfort zone in every lesson I had. This is something I found fascinating and it helped me understand that Cambridge is not beyond my capabilities should I continue to push myself.`

`The teaching was outstanding. It felt very personal yet also challenging and realistic of the standard needed for top universities.`

`What I enjoyed the most about the teachers was you could tell they were very passionate about the subject, and they wanted you to be too. Competitive universities now seem within my reach.`
