Information about Ben
I have taught Key Stage 2 for ten years in Kent, around the Canterbury area. I have spent most of my time in upper key stage two, which has the additional responsibility and pressure of extra exams as the grammar school system is in place in Kent. I consistently secured results well above national average, and an above average number of my pupils were successful in obtaining places in highly selective grammar schools.
Every teacher needs passion and dedication, but I have gone further than most by volunteering abroad on three separate occasions. I taught in South Africa and Cambodia respectively over the English summer holidays, in preparation for volunteering abroad for a longer period of time. I have just returned to England after volunteering in Zambia for a year, through WISE;; [contact detail removed] an NGO that promotes and enables education, especially of vulnerable girls in rural Zambia. During my time in Zambia, I volunteered as a class teacher and led CPDs in various schools, worked alongside school inspectors and the equivalent of the Local Education Authority to raise attainment across the district, and improve the inspection practice.
As well as working in established schools, I helped to set up a new school;; I interviewed teachers for the school and initiated a monitoring cycle to maintain a high standard of teaching, creating a focus on pupils next steps in their learning, and ensuring a challenge for all abilities. I regularly taught at the school, modelling different approaches whilst being observed by the members of staff.

We needed a short, sharp re-focus on handwriting and punctuation for our soon to be year 5 son. We found Ben through this site and thought he was great - he totally got our 9 year old son back on track before the start of term. We thoroughly recommend Ben.
