I`m a retired church leader and teacher, based close to the centre of Gloucester. An Oxford graduate, I also taught Religious Studies for ten years, years 7-13: including major world faiths, GCSE Philosophy and Ethics, and A level Biblical Studies, Philosophy of Religion, Contemporary Religion and Buddhism. When I trained to teach, my second subject was Maths. I am a published author.

Alongside this examination work, I have considerable experience more recently tutoring for 11+ preparation. Many years ago, I took the 11+ myself - and my results were deemed worthy of a full scholarship to a major public school. I`m a Director of a publisher for 11+ revision, for which I have proof-read a very large number of examination questions. I am very well acquainted with the Schools` Entrance Test for Gloucestershire.

I`m also a widely experienced supply teacher, having served more than 20 local schools, and covering just about every subject there is - including Girls` Dance for a Convent School! I`ve worked on a one-to-one basis with remedial KS3 students in English and Maths., in local schools and for the local Authority.

I`ve been an Examiner / Senior Examiner for fifteen years at GCSE level, which has given me considerable insight into examination technique. I`m an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors. As a teacher, a father and a grandfather, I greatly enjoy working with young people - and helping them to achieve their very best!

Availability: I`m available most times Monday to Saturday (by arrangement) - unless already tutoring someone else!.

HOWEVER ...in retirement, I want to do as much as I`ll enjoy, but not so much it becomes unwanted pressure.

Experience: I`m a qualified teacher with DBS, DBS update link, and ongoing training to keep me sharp (most recently in Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection, Child Mental Health, Mental Health First Aid and COVID awareness).
