Information about Gioacchino

I`m a graduate from the University of Oxford, with a MPhys Honours Degree in Physics, specialising in Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics. Further to this I studied at UCL for a PhD in Astrophysics, which started in September 2013, completing my doctorate with Honours. I`m now a Quantitative Associate at a major investment bank in the city.

My strengths lie in university аpplicаtiоns, UCAS, Oxbridge Entrance exam for Physics, SAT Maths and Physics, persоnаl stаtements аs well аs tutoring Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics at GCSE and A-level.

I encourage my students to ask questions and then I prompt them to solve their own problems by guiding them through the correct methodology and thinking processes. This reaffirms their understanding and encourages them to develop an inquisitive and thoughtful approach. I am more than happy to provide documentary evidence of my academic achievements and I can also provide contact details for my referees.

On a lighter note, while at University I played for my colleges` basketball and football teams. To add to this, I am a keen tennis and basketball player and also enjoy travelling!

Availability: To be discussed with prospective applicant, however weekends would be preferred.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have over four years worth of private tutoring experience in London (700+ hours), teaching a wide range of students in Maths, Further Maths and Physics. My highlights include guiding a student to successfully securing an offer from St John`s College, Oxford, to study Physics and guiding another student to receive an offer from Cambridge to read Maths. I`ve also tutored a student who is now going to study at Columbia University in the USA. I prepared these students for the PAT, STEP, ACT, SAT and Further Maths exams and through the Oxbridge interview process with great success. My other students have all achieved A grades, or above, in their mocks and other exams at school.

I have taught secondary school students on numerous occasions in the past. I volunteered for over three months in Cheney School Oxford teaching GCSE Mathematics to struggling students where I was responsible for going over past papers with students, filling in any gaps within their knowledge and setting extra homework.

Moreover, during my time at Oxford University I was chosen by my tutors to be the Undergraduate Physics Mentor in University College where I helped younger Physics students with any challenges they may have been facing. I first built up a personal relationship with the student, and then I worked out a method which I believed would be successful in helping them reach their potential. This has led me to develop mentoring and coaching skills as I try to get the best out of the individual.

Finally, in secondary school I taught Key Stage 3 Science to Year 7 students.
