Information about Roshani

I am a fully qualified secondary school maths tutor with over fiffteen years experience in private tutoring and university tuition.

I started teaching at University, firstly as a teaching assistant in classes and mentoring students who hadn’t been given the opportunity to take further maths A level as they found transition to their new lifestyle daunting. I was given two small groups of first and second year students to provide general support to in all modules.

Due to my love of the subject I decided to do a PhD, which I completed successfully. I continued to act as a teaching assistant. At this time I joined a tutoring agency and began teaching ages 9 years plus. I found this remarkably rewarding, particularly teaching 13-18 olds.

I completed my Doctorate in mathematics in 2008 and moved straight to the teaching sector as I find interaction with students both rewarding and engaging vs the solitary nature of research. I taught at two top private schools and ran the cookery club and bridge club there.

I consider my greatest successes so far have been:
- A boy at a community college whose school was unable to complete the GCSE course or A level material. I tutored him, through both and he got the grades to get the grades to go to LSE.
-A girl initially weak in maths getting into St Pauls
-My GCSE set all achieving A*s and continiuing to the top two grades at Additional Maths
-An Eton entrance student achieving scholarship status.
-Two of my bridge club members qualifying for the England bridge team.

My teaching style:

In small groups (less than 5) I tailor my worksheets to the interests to the interests of the students and for larger groups i’ll cover a broad range of applications where i can

I rely heavily on helping children visualise problems, using computerised simulations if necessary. I will always give a child the chance to work out a problem them themselves starting with simple examples and building on them.

Availability: I’m Happy to one off catch up courses, short term catch up courses or preparation for students raking exams or switching to new schools. At the moment I,m available most afternoons and evenings including weekends.
