I am a friendly, kind and enthusiastic teacher with eleven years of experience in education. This includes classroom teaching (first in London, then in Saigon, now in the East Midlands) and an additional six years of experience in home schooling and adult education. I have also been a GCSE English Literature examiner for AQA for the past five years.

I have always been passionate about English and Drama, having achieved A grades in both subjects at A Level (including 100% scores in several modules), a 2:1 in my Bachelors Degree in English and a Distinction in my MA in Writing. It is this passion and enthusiasm that allows me to teach effectively in both a classroom and one-to-one environment. In my spare time I love reading, writing, theatre, baking, long distance running and travel.

Experience: I have twelve years of teaching experience, having worked in secondary schools in the East Midlands, London and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam since 2011. I have taught English Literature, English Language and Drama from Years 7 to 13 to a range of abilities and class sizes. I have a special interest in SEN, particularly working with students with ASD and ADHD diagnoses.

Over the years, this broad range of teaching experience has allowed me to work with children with a range of learning capabilities, teaching students for whom English is a second or third language and providing additional one-to-one support for students in preparation for GCSE and A Level exams. In terms of results, I have had success in helping students to achieve the top grade at both A Level and GCSE (in coursework as well as exams) as well as supporting students to turn borderline grades (3s and 4s) into 5s, 6s and even 7s. Beyond the classroom I also have a thorough understanding of the theatrical process, having devised, directed and produced a range of plays, from `Romeo and Juliet` to `The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time`.

Aside from teaching, I work as a freelance ghostwriter. In this role, I have written dozens of books, including autobiograhies and fiction works. This experience feeds into my teaching, in particular with regards to planning, structuring and crafting longform writing.
