Information about Alex

I am a professional practicing artist specialising in painting, drawing and illustration, mixed media/collage, digital photography/image manipulation, digital storytelling and film making. I have a degree in Visual Arts and have also studied on an MA programme in Participatory & Community Arts at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

I like teaching and learning to be a two way interactive process and like to involve my students as much as possible in decision making, enabling them to take ownership of their own creative learning. I am a calm and relaxed teacher and approach sessions in a patient and understanding manner. I am friendly with a good sense of humour, firmly believing that in order for a student to learn they must also have fun along the way.

Please see my photos for examples of past work and projects.

Availability: Mon-Fri & Sat/Sun days and evenings

I am very flexible regarding availability and am happy to cater to your needs wherever possible.

Willing to travel: 30 miles

Experience: I have worked in various community arts and educational settings for 10 years, facilitating arts teaching sessions across a wide range of ages, abilities and backgrounds. In addition to one-to-one tutoring students at their own homes, I have also taught in schools, libraries, galleries, museums, community centres, health & social care settings, charities, youth groups, refugee centres and prisons. I believe this experience has provided me with a strong grounding and flexibility in teaching techniques, enabling me to cater my methods to the specific needs of each individual student. Most recently I have been employed as an arts practitioner working with offenders in and out of prison for the arts charity Stretch, and as lead artist co-producing a film with the Barnet Refugee Service youth group.

Alex is a very talented artist and extremely easy to get along with. He is tutoring my son who is just starting his gcse art course. It’s very early days but so far so good.
