Information about Zara

I’m a friendly, experienced tutor based in Dulwich, with over 10 years of tutoring experience across a wide range of ages and subjects. I began tutoring at 18 while studying at Newstead Wood School for Girls and later ran my own successful tutoring business, specialising in one-to-one support for children aged 3 to 18, including those with SEN.

I hold a BSc in Criminology from the University of Southampton, and my academic background includes A-Levels in Biology, Economics, Classical Civilisation, and Philosophy & Ethics. At GCSE, I achieved 3 A*s, 5 As and 3 Bs, with top grades in Maths, English and Triple Science.

I currently tutor a wide variety of students, from KS1 to A-Level, and I pride myself on tailoring my teaching style to each learner. My sessions are engaging, encouraging and focused on helping students build confidence and reach their full academic potential. I have a strong track record of improving results and am particularly passionate about developing a love for learning in the students I work with.

With a warm, approachable style, I’ve built long-term relationships with many families—some of whom I’ve supported for several years. I also have an excellent network of fellow tutors, which gives me access to a wide range of resources and fresh approaches that I regularly bring into my teaching.

Availability: My availability is flexible and I can accommodate various schedules as I have a car and cycle for my commute. I am currently available Monday-Thursday after 5:30pm, Fridays from 3pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am - 1pm.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: Over the past 10+ years, I have tutored students across a wide range of subjects and age groups—from Early Years and Key Stage 1, right through to GCSE and A-Level. My experience includes preparing students for SATs, 11+ and entrance exams (including verbal and non-verbal reasoning), as well as providing ongoing support in core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science. I have also supported students with A-Level subjects, including Economics and Classical Civilisation.

In addition to private tutoring, I’ve worked in a primary school for children with disabilities and have extensive experience supporting students with a variety of SEN needs, including dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, and processing difficulties. This has allowed me to develop a flexible and creative teaching approach, adapting methods to suit each individual learner.

I believe in creating a positive and encouraging learning environment, where students feel confident to ask questions and engage at their own pace. I am also first aid trained, and always prioritise my students’ wellbeing alongside their academic progress.

Tutoring has been a genuinely rewarding journey for me, and I continue to learn from every student I work with.

Although Zara did not tutor me for long (due to my exams being cancelled), she provided a relaxed and friendly environment for me to grow in confidence and improve my learning. Thank you!

Great teacher! She is friendly and makes it very easy to ask questions. Great resources at hand and knows her economics syllabus very well.

Zara is a very reliable tutor. Although my daughter only had a handful of lessons (Science GCSE) with her already feels much confident on the subject.
