Laurence

My name Is Laurence, I`m from Buckinghamshire, in the countryside near London. I`m currently finishing an MSc in Comparative Politics at the London School of Economics & Political Science . I lived in China for four years before that and so also speak conversational mandarin. In my spare time I like exploring London and watching movies.

My standard teaching technique is to establish a discussion point for a lesson, e.g. travelling, movies etc, and take notes of student errors whilst engaging in natural conversation. I then go through these errors with the student, drill corrections and provide electronic flashcards for homework review. This way classes can be about topics of interest, mistakes can emerge in a natural way and lessons can focus on specific problems a student has.

I am highly flexible though, and am quite comfortable and familiar with using textbooks and other resources.

Availability: I`m currently a student preparing my dissertation so am very flexible and able to do most times.

Experience: I have four years experience teaching. I`ve taught English in 1-1 classes, in small groups and in large classes. I`ve taught all ages and all levels. I specialise in teaching adults.

In China I spent two years teaching at schools and one and a half years teaching at Beijing Language and Culture University. I have tutored throughout this time.
