Currently I am a Functional Skills lecturer delivering Level 1 and Level 2 maths and English to apprentices within the apprenticeship department. I also deliver Functional Skills to 16+ students and Access students. Duties and responsibilities include: preparing, planning and delivering effective teaching through face to face and remote sessions in small focus groups and 1 to 1 sessions. Identifying and supporting areas of weakness and developing exam ready students.

Availability: I am available most evenings between 19:00 - 22:00 and occasionally I can do Saturday and Sunday daytimes.

Experience: Previous Achievements and Experience
Within my current role I have had over 3 years of delivering functional skills to apprentices and working with both Training officers and employers to support achievement. I have established and I am developing my knowledge further in relevant subject area including ongoing training in the current reforms of the City and Guilds curriculum. This has also enabled me to create holistic planning encompassing coverage of subject specification, differentiation, learning styles through a face to face, remote and blended delivery.

I am a natural organiser and I am able to demonstrate an innovative approach to my responsibilities being both flexible and adaptable working with students of all ages and abilities. My current role requires the ability to work flexible hours when required to accommodate both apprentices and employer’s needs.

I have knowledge and demonstrate practice in the standardisation, validation and IQA of my subject are within my team and therefore, I am able to support the development and implementation of internal action plans though regular evaluation, e.g. QIP and SAR.

Regular mandatory training such as Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, GDPR provides me with the relevant legislation to adhere to current regulations within the workplace.

As a Curriculum Lead, I have been responsible for daily management of the team including co-ordinating the effective delivery of a Functional Skills Maths study programme to students from across the college including apprentices. The programme included a range of quality teaching, development of learning programmes, arrangement of SMART targets, appropriate lesson planning and assessment through the arranging of mock and live examinations whilst adhering to both college and awarding body procedures within a learning environment supporting safeguarding, equal opportunities and respecting diversity using College standards. My role also included day to day management of the team and provision including drop in learning walks, planning audits, marked work audits, weekly team meetings, arranging curriculum staff, parental, student meetings, attending College events, organise staff for CPR and preparation and participation of College SAR and QIP. This role also includes monitoring of exams from delivering standardisation training, compliance checks, internal verifying within college procedures and awarding bodies.

Additional duties include collating weekly data, auditing of trackers, weekly reporting of results, weekly update of data boards and monitoring results by tutor. Management of the staff includes executing RTW, authorising Annual leave, 1:1, Reviews (Absence/PDR/Targets), Performance Management, Allocation of additions duties to staff, lesson cover and arranging and delivering CPD if and when necessary.
