Information about Adeola
Whilst studying BA honours in Law and English Literature at the University of Kent in Canterbury, I was faced repeatedly with a lot of social issues which circulated around health.
As I went further into the course, it became apparent that good health improves one`s self esteem. This interest gradually turned into a passion for unravelling health issues particularly on how it affects vulnerable individuals within society.
I have also achieved Grades A-B in A levels English Language and Literature, Philosophy, ICT as well as French. Furthermore I have 12 GCSE all grades A*-B in Mathematcs, English Language and Literature, Double Award Science, History, Religious Education, French and GNVQ full award in ICT
I believe I possess strong critical analytical skills and I have obtained years of related work experience which will be advantageous to me as a Tutor. Via my degree and my work experience, my main strengths are working cooperatively as a team in order to achieve a common goal, maintaining a high level of professionalism alongside my effective communication skills. I believe these skills are vital in establishing relationships with helpless members of the society and will contribute in order to assist them to live better lives within their local community
I currently work as a SEN Teaching Assistant via a Teaching Agency called Teaching Personnel and have done that for the past 7 years alongside 5 years of private tutoring. I can say that my tutees have come back to me with better grades that what they had before I started tutoring them. I have work with vulnerable pupils in both primary and secondary education settings. An example is an autistic pupil I worked with. I assisted him with his learning in order to assist him to overcome his academic difficulties which are evidently a major social issue for the referred pupil. Apart from my current position at Milestone Academy in Longfield, I have previously worked as a Teaching Assistant in West Kent Health Needs Education Service and at Brompton Academy. I am 27 years of age and I feel I can relate to the younger pupil up till A levels and encourage them to achieve their full potential.
These roles involved supporting pupils in a class room as well as a one to one basis, assist in monitoring the behaviour of the referred pupils, keeping a record of day to day activities, preparing and modifying materials for withdrawal groups and liaising with parent and Senco.
Through these roles I began to become increasingly of the issues that prevented pupils from achieving academically and most of it boils down to lack of motivation and one to one support which I am able to provide. As well as this I volunteer with Bexley`s youth offending team as a panel member.
