Charlie

I am currently teaching part time in a local primary school, in Year 1, here in Brighton. Prior to working in Brighton, I worked in London, in the Foundation Stage. I am an Early Years specialist and enjoy working with younger children. I am child centred and focus on the interests of the child as an individual. I have worked with children with a range of additional needs.

I have recently qualified as a teacher of English as a foreign language (CELTA), and volunteer at an English language college in Hove, working with adult learners, all levels, up to B2 (upper intermediate level). I recently worked one-to-one with a refugee who had just arrived in the UK at an absolute beginner level which was a fantastic experience, and is something I would like to do more of.

Last year, I provided a bespoke online program to a Year 5 student from China, attending a UK school, in order to improve his curriculum English at school.

I can work with children, and adults.
For children in the Early Years, I can lead play-based sessions in all curriculum areas. If your child is new to English, I can tailor a program to support them in learning English.
I am very experienced in teaching Phonics, Reading and Writing at Early Years and Key Stage 1.
I can teach adults wanting to improve their English. I can support the improvement of all aspects of English language, including spoken English, written English, reading, grammar, listening etc

Availability: I am available between 9:20am and 2:30pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
I am available on three Saturday mornings a month.
(This will change in the summer holidays).

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: Have taught in Early Years and Key Stage 1 classes since I graduated in 2005 in Brighton and London.
Worked part time in a nursery in Brighton for two years with pre-schoolers.
Completed CELTA training to teach EFL.
Have taught (and currently DO teach) online classes 1:1 to children with English as an additional language.
