Information about Tim

I am a semi-retired teacher with many years of classroom experience.
Outside the classroom, I have a passion for Music and Drama. I am also very interested in History and in English Language and Literature.
As well as playing a range of instruments, including the piano, I am the Principal Euphonium player for Wigston Enterprise band and I also assist with Wigston Horizon band, which encourages beginner players to become part of the brass banding movement.
I have sung in numerous choirs and performed with amateur groups in a number of musicals. I am currently the Chairman of LOPs, a local group that performs Musical productions in a Leicester Theatre.
As well as my Music and Drama pastimes, I am an avid reader and I write creative fiction and poetry on a regular basis.
Much of my writing involves using my knowledge of History and I enjoy researching details that will help to develop the characters, descri ptions and plots of my stories.

Availability: I am involved in some school teaching and I have students in various countries around the world. My availability changes from week to week, so it is worth asking whether I have any vacant slots.
I will tutor on any day, including weekends and will work during the evenings if necessary.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: As a qualified teacher, I have spent 25 years in the classroom teaching a range of students of different ages and from different backgrounds. As well as being proficient in teaching English Literature and Language at many different levels, I have been able to use my History skills to teach pupils about many aspects of British and World History.
Although my goal is normally to challenge pupils to perform to the best of their ability, I have found a lot of satisfaction from teaching students who have found it more difficult to access the standard curriculum or children who have, for one reason or another, found it hard to succeed in a school environment.
While most of my recent work has been with Students who are of school age, I have recently taken on the challenge of tutoring adults in History and I am working with an organisation that promotes adult learning across the UK.
