Information about Angele

I am a dedicated English and French tutor with over 40 years of teaching experience across a range of schools and exam boards, especially when it comes to English GCSE and English Literature. My current focus is on 11+ and 13+ English preparation, helping students build the reading, writing and analytical skills needed for entrance exams. Many of my students have gone on to receive multiple offers and scholarships to leading independent schools.

My lessons focus on developing confidence, clear communication and strong writing skills. I help students learn how to structure essays effectively, analyse texts thoughtfully, and strengthen their spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG). Through carefully selected resources, regular practice, and feedback, I support students in making steady progress while developing a genuine appreciation of language and literature.

Alongside tutoring, I am also a published poet and educational writer. My poetry collection `Sixty Poems of Pain and Beauty` and the co-edited teaching resource `An Assortment of Poetry Genres` are available online whilst `In Assembly and Other Poems` has a fully enabled preview. Poetry and creative writing often feature in my lessons, helping students engage with language in creative and meaningful ways.
I also encourage students to engage in Scrabble ® as a hobby as it can strengthen their vocabulary and anagram skills.

My goal is always to build confidence, encourage further learning and help each student reach their full academic potential.

Availability: Online tuition is preferred.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I have taught a number of subjects including Citizenship and History in schools, but I was mainly engaged to teach English up to GCSE and French up to A Level in a variety of educational settings, including independent schools, grammar schools, community settings, and further education colleges. Over the years I have also delivered courses in Business and Practical French as well as English (TEFL) for adult learners.

My current tutoring focuses mainly on KS2–KS4 students, particularly those preparing for 11+ and 13+ entrance examinations. I provide targeted preparation in reading comprehension, essay writing, creative writing, and SPaG to ensure students are well prepared for selective school assessments and later GCSE study.

In addition to my teaching career, I have recently completed a Master’s degree in Adult Education (by research). This reflects my ongoing commitment to professional development and effective teaching practice.
