Information about Elizabeth
I have tutored the Eleven Plus exam for ten years with a high success rate, and have created my own syllabus with interim tests to ensure pupils` progress. I teach online, so lessons are from the comfort of pupils` homes. This is not only convenient but is effective as online lessons are more focussed, with fewer distractions. I use 3 cameras, one for me and another for the white board beside me so children can see how the process of learning a particular item unfolds.
I also help children who are falling behind in school, with a specialism in dyslexia. Teaching online can be fun and works well as I use games and videos to aid learning. I am a calm, patient teacher who wants every child I tutor to reach their full potential. I am always happy to repeat a learning session or find a new way to teach an item if the first way doesn`t work. I understand the need to build confidence, especially when a child is finding a particular topic difficult and am able to find imaginative ways to help understanding develop.
Availability: I am available to teach online weekday evenings and Saturday afternoons. I also teach during the school holidays.
ONLINE CATCH UP LESSONS AVAILABLE DURING THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: My experience is wide ranging. I began work in the 1980s with children in care and am a qualified Nursery Nurse. I have worked with children and adults with challenging behaviour and learning disability, as well as in nursery and primary school.
I did my degree through the Open University in Psychology (language and cognitive development) and then achieved my teaching qualification in 2009. I was a SENCO for a while at Kings Junior School, then decided to tutor on a one to one, online basis privately from my home.
