Information about Maev
I am an Irish-Belgian mental health researcher. I currently divide my time working as an academic, writing papers about psychology and mental health, and working as a Psychology and French tutor.
Ive been in the UK since I came here to do my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Anthropology at the University of Cambridge. I then moved from Cambridge to the big city of London, and completed an MSc in Mental Health Sciences at UCL. I worked as a researcher at an NHS Trust in East London and loved it so much I decided to apply to do a PhD to explore my own research idea. I finished my PhD (with minor corrections) at Queen Mary University of London in 2021 and am now a part-time researcher and part-time tutor.
I have loved having tutees alongside each stage of my academic career and working as a researcher. Being able to see people grow and learn is such a joy - and a pleasant injection of energy to break up the academic research.
In my free time I love doing yoga, cooking enthusiastically (and badly) and finding new hidden nooks of London explore.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I have been tutoring for over a decade. As a native French and English-speaker I started out teaching languages, and have also been tutoring masters and undergraduate students in psychology throughout the course of my doctoral studies.
The main areas I have experience as a tutor are:
- Psychology, mental health and research methods (undergraduate and masters and PhD students, over 7 years of experience).
- English as a foreign language (over 10 years of experience).
- French as a foreign language (over 10 years of experience).
