Information about James
I studied Classics at Oxford University, graduating in 2010 with a first-class degree. My two key interests were linguistics (especially Greek) and history. Since then, I have completed a Masters, and am now coming to the end of a DPhil in Ancient History at Oxford, with a focus on the Greek sermons of the late-antique bishop John Chrysostom. Alongside this, I have also been preparing translations of a number of his works.
My focus has throughout been on the Greek language and on Greek texts, and so I am well placed to teach Greek to an advanced level. I am, however, also available to teach Latin and Ancient History.
Availability: Anytime
** I will be unavailable from December 2016-May 2017 **
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have taught undergraduate students in the Faculty of Classics at Oxford University in predominantly Greek language and reading classes for 5 years (2011-6). I have also marked exam papers for collections (termly informal tests) and Mods (prelims).
Additionally, I have taught beginners` Biblical Greek to adults one-to-one on a casual basis.
