As well as successfully tutoring many pupils of varying ages, I have been an English teacher for over fifteen years, including being Head of English and Media Studies in a local independent school and working in some very high profile schools. I have experience teaching at all levels, up to (and including) A-level English, English Lit, Media Studies and IB English A1.

I have worked, and continue to work, as an English examiner. For over ten years I have marked public papers at both GCSE and A level for exams and coursework. I am currently a Team leader for A level English lit for OCR. I also mark Higher Level IB English. This has given me an excellent understanding of the intricacies of mark schemes and the techniques required for exam success. I have lots of experience helping able students to meet those top grades they seek for sixth form and university entrance. I previously worked at some very academic schools, helping pupils with their applications to Oxbridge and other top universities.

I have my own children in KS1,KS2 and KS3 and can also offer lively, enjoyable tuition to younger learners, particularly those who would like to be challenged more or to practise for assessments (11+, private school entrance tests etc).

I am an approachable, flexible tutor, happy to adapt my teaching methods and styles to suit your preferred learning methods. I think students learn best when they are enjoying the subject. There are usually biscuits on offer to keep ups all smiling!

I am a well-qualified teacher. I have a PGCE, a First-Class degree in English Language and Literature and A grades at A-Level in English, French, Art and General Studies.

I am currently tutoring remotely, via Zoom but I live very close to Judd school if Covid guidelines change and you would like face-to-face tuition.

**NB: A-LEVELS**
After the fiasco of the past year, current Year 11 students could find themselves in a real bind when they begin their A-levels. They have missed so much teaching and have not had to prepare for any public exams. Do consider being pro-active and booking my services sooner, rather than later. I can help your young person build their confidence and analytical skills so they don`t experience too much of a shock as they enter sixth form.

Experience: I taught in independent schools for over twelve years. I have been a GCSE and A-level examiner for a national board for several years and am now a senior examiner for A-Level literature. I have helped 100+ students on a one-to-one basis and can offer references if required.
