I have 26 years` experience as a primary teacher in both state and private schools and offer tuition in Maths and English up to the highest standard required. I have lots of experience preparing pupils for SATs (including the old L6 Maths) and have twice acted as a Marker for the national KS2 English tests, including L6 Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling papers. I have an excellent understanding of the current curriculum content as well as what standards are required.

Since leaving full time classroom teaching I have worked in school with individuals and small groups mainly in years 5 and 6, teaching maths across the ability range. I have also successfully planned and taught maths classes held weekly at a local secondary school involving the most able pupils selected by their primary schools. I am familiar with the new national curriculum in Maths and English and experienced in delivering the content up to `mastery level`.

I have tutored Maths and English privately at Key Stage 3 for the past 3 years.

I offer 11+ coaching in all areas covered by local independent schools as part of their entry and assessment requirements, and have done so successfully for the past three years.

I also teach piano, flute and violin from beginner to Grade 8 level and Theory to Grade 5. I encourage my pupils to enjoy their music and can teach a variety of styles including jazz, blues and pop as well as formal and classical. I will enter pupils for exams if they wish to take them.

I have a friendly, patient and encouraging approach to teaching and will tailor all lessons to suit individual needs. I am happy to help or advise pupils with their homework where required.

Availability: Most daytimes during term and in the school holidays. After school from around 3:45 to 6pm. Later evening times may be negotiable for adult clients. I offer 45 minute lessons for £18.00 if this time period is more appropriate to the individual pupil`s needs. This cost may increase to £20(£22) to cover travel, depending on location.
One hour`s tuition is £27, or £30 if travelling beyond the local area.
