Information about Emma

ABOUT ME- I am a friendly, reliable professional with over 20 years’ of domestic and international experience working as teacher in a variety of settings including, schools, colleges and adult learning centers.

My APPROACH - After an informal assessment, I set achievable goals for my students to work towards and monitor their progress regularly. I feel I can best meet student’s learning needs if I am aware of their prior knowledge and learning style suited to them. When planning lessons I aim to provide my students with rewarding learning experiences, that are well planned and delivered in an actively engaging way.

I prefer to teach my lessons online, but will also consider face to face lessons. Online lessons enable me to utilise a wealth of resources including: ebooks, interactive games, educational videos and online text books. I also have access to a virtual whiteboard and I can share useful documents with my students.

WHAT I OFFER

Key stage 1 and 2 maths and English tuition, including preparing for the year 6 SATs.

English lessons for speakers of other languages including, conversational English, grammar and pronunciation lessons ( children and adults).

Online phonics, reading and maths lessons for children in EYFS and key stage 1.

Although I joined Tutor Hunt in 2019, for various reasons, I did not fully register until 2024. So now, I am looking forward to meeting new students, building positive relationships and creating bespoke lessons to facilitate student progress.

I am a calm and patient teacher who listens to my learners and is dedicated to helping people to reach their full potential. If you are interested in my classes, please do not hesitate to message me for a friendly, none obligatory chat. We will discuss your requirements and decide if I am the right tutor for you.

Availability: I am available on week days and evenings, between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Sorry, but I do not work at the weekends, unless a lesson has had to be postponed.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I am fully qualified to teach primary aged children and English as second language (ESOL). I understand some of the difficulties non-English speakers can face when living in a new country with an unfamiliar culture. I am very accommodating and take pride in providing good quality teaching to all I have worked with. My qualifications include: PGCE with qualified teacher status, Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in teaching English language to adults) and a BSc in Psychology with Sociology.

Currently, I work part time for my local council as a tutor assessor, teaching the levels 1,2 and 3 teaching assistant courses. I also teach English (as a second language) online to children who live in China and South Korea. I have five repeat students from the UK and abroad, who I have taught primary maths and English for over a year. Through my lessons, they have gained in confidence and have made lots of progress.
