A CELTA qualified, biological science graduate with experience of social work and teaching, nationally and internationally, focussing on English and Science education. Starting a 2-year Masters degree in Speech and Language Therapy in January 2023. Completed 2 International Citizen Service placements, once as a volunteer then as a team leader on overseas youth development programmes. Previous experience in customer service including sales and handling/resolving complaints. Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and computer literate. Flexible, adaptable, good at problem solving and always enthusiastic about developing/learning skills. Able to work on own initiative when needed or as an integral member of a team offering effective support and advice, including leadership roles.

Lead communications with local authorities and schools to establish EAL (English as an additional language) support needs, promote LILA*s (Liverpool International Language Academy) services and other general administration duties. Manage and co-ordinate other tutors.
Working with staff at primary/secondary schools to implement/create agreed English language education programmes to support students integration and help access the national curriculum. Provide pastoral care, monitor/record progress, following safeguarding procedures and cater lessons to individual needs.
July 2015 to date (seasonal) Wave Leader and Pastoral Care Lead NCS: the Growth Company and formerly NCS: The Challenge
Wave Leader: lead and inspire a wave of young people and seasonal staff. Responsible for the safeguarding and pastoral care of young people on the wave, line manage and coach seasonal staff, and oversee programme logistics during residential and non-residential phases of the programme.
Pastoral Care Lead: support the Wave Leader and Senior Mentors with the pastoral care and behavior management of over 100 15-17-year old on a National Citizen Service programme. Coaching staff and working directly with individual young people in a residential setting with various support requirements this could be behavioral, physical (including first aid) or emotional support.
