Information about Davina
***Offering Online Tutoring***
Hi I`m Davina! I`m currently a medical student at Barts and The London, with a previous 1st class degree in Biochemistry from Imperial College London.
I`ve had a lot of experience tutoring both informally and formally, as well as experience in childcare settings, and have always received positive feedback from students who have both benefited and enjoyed my tutoring. I hope I can be of help to you too!
Availability: I am available throughout the school holidays and every weekend all year. During term time, I am available after 6pm Monday to Friday.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: ***NEW: I am also now offering personal statement checks and interview preparation for Medicine, where I can read through your personal statement, mark it with edits and run through the changes with you (either in person or online). We can then have follow-up lessons if you`d like me to go over any further drafts. If you are successful in getting an interview, I can help by running mock interviews with you. I have previously mentored students from disadvantaged areas in successfully writing personal statements for Medicine.
In the past, I have led classes tutoring students one-to-one to sit the 11+ exams. Having sat and passed the 11+ exams myself, I have a full understanding of the skills and technique required to succeed. I am also comfortable to teach up to an A-level standard, as I have both done well in the past for such exams and mentored students at this level. I also have KS3 and GCSE level students, who I have managed to advance from E grades to As.
In the past I have been a tutor at Explore Learning where I tutored up to 6 students simultaneously, varying in age from 4 to 16. There I also received training and experience tutoring students to sit 11+ exams for entry to selective grammar schools. At Explore Learning I also had the opportunity to tutor students with special educational needs (SEN), including dyslexia, ADHD and Down`s syndrome.
During my time at The Latymer School, I mentored AS Biology students and also regularly volunteered to teach special needs children at West Lea School to read.
In the past I have had A-level students, and I currently have several GCSE students.
