Information about Maria
I am a highly experienced and friendly GCSE, A-Level and degree level tutor.
I trained as a teacher at the Institute of Education and I currently work as a Psychology A-Level teacher at West Ham football club. I have been preparing students for exams for ten years and have learned how to help each individual get into their choice of secondary school and achieve As and A*s.
I also have an excellent track record of supporting underperforming students to raise their grades for public exams.
I believe that a genuine interest in course content is the way to attain the highest grades. My own enjoyment of my studies allowed me to attain 297/300 in my Psychology A-Level, 295/300 in my Politics A-Level and a First Class degree from Bristol. I always work to foster a real connection between students and what they are learning.
My approach is also underpinned by the students need for clarity. In my experience, exam success often rests on the student understanding what is required of them.
My experience of working as a Child and Adolescent psychotherapist in specialist training also informs my approach to tutoring. I believe that child development and emotional factors like anxiety can really affect how well a student is doing. I have seen many times that if these difficulties can be understood, the barriers to a student`s success can be removed.
I have worked with many students who feel highly anxious about their studies and are underperforming. Over time, they have improved their results and come to feel passionate about their projects.

Experience: I trained as a teacher at the Institute of Education and I currently work as a Psychology A-Level teacher at West Ham football club.
My experience of working as a NHS Child and Adolescent psychotherapist in specialist training means that I am highly experienced in working with teenagers who are finding it hard to focus or are feeling lost or demotivated in relation to their work. I also have a great deal of experience working with children who have Special Educational needs, ADHD and ASC.
I have also worked as a school based English, Psychology, History and Politics GCSE and A-Level tutor. I have led full courses in English GCSE, R.E. GCSE and Psychology A-Level.
I am an experienced proofreader and have worked with many people to help them improve their written English for undergraduate and postgraduate level submissions.
