I am an experienced science tutor, tutoring students from secondary school to PhD level. I have tutored students experiencing various difficulties, from finding content challenging to exam practice.

I am passionate about helping students in any possible way, whether improving their grades, helping with revision timetables or advising on career options. I believe learning should be an enjoyable experience.

Experience: My tutoring approach centers around student-driven learning. In initial sessions, I consult with students to assess background knowledge, identify growth areas, and collaboratively develop an individuzed learning plan. With the curriculum overview as a guide, I design targeted lessons and hone in on critical concepts needing reinforcement. To promote engagement and comprehension monitoring, I incorporate regular progress checks through interactive assignments like group quizzes. I also provide personsed homework and previous test reviews. Adjustments to materials and teaching style are made throughout our work together in response to each student`s needs and preferences. My priority is nurturing an enriching student-focused experience conducive to mastery and confidence building. Following lessons, I set relevant homework. I also help students organise their time, help to reduce procrastination, and develop effective revision timetables according to students’ learning styles.

Exam boards:
I have experience of working with all exam boards including AQA, Edxecel, Wjec, IGCSE, OCR and CCEA. I also offer guidance in personal statement compilation, Universty applications as well as interview prepartion support (including pharmaceutical industry roles as well as academic).

Exam preparation:
Very often, I find students come to me with homework or exam papers, essays or exam papers marked but do not understand how to improve their grades. I teach students exactly how to understand mark schemes and the importance of answering exam questions in a manner which the examiners are looking for. I coin this approach ‘mastery’ of exam papers and has seen my students improve their grades by an average of three grades.

Parental involvement:
I strongly encourage parental involvement in my tutoring approach. Following lessons, I communicate with parents to update on students progress.

Individual/group sessions:
I offer individual and group sessions and find both to be beneficial depending upon students requirements. I enjoy facilitating small group sessions where students can collaborate, network, and learn from each other. Group discussions encourage deeper understanding as students formulate questions and explain concepts to one another.

Below is an example of a select few recent improvements I have made in students education:
