Information about Shazmen
I am a 4th year medical student at University College London. I also obtained a first class honours degree in Medical Sciences with Mathematics and Computers from UCL. I have over 4 years of experience in tutoring GCSE and A-level students. Having personally experienced the new changes to the secondary and A-level curriculum, I am well aware of what exam boards expect from students.
Having studied Maths and Further Maths at A-level in addition to completing a Maths and Computing BSc, I have a passion for studying and teaching mathematics. I ensure that my teaching is simple, straightforward and easy to understand.
I believe every child can achieve top grades in maths if they`re taught in a way that integrates their strengths and needs and which cultivates in them a keen interest in the subject.
Availability: I am available in the evenings during weekdays and from 8am-8pm on weekends. Most of my tutoring sessions take place online with the exception of students living in my locality who have the option to be tutored face to face.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have been formally tutoring Maths for the past 4 years. My approach to teaching is unique and varies from student to student. First I establish the strengths and weaknesses of each student in order to create a personalised learning plan for them. I ensure that their foundational knowledge in the subject is solidified so that subsequent learning is made easier.
Learning the content is not enough to pass the exams so I ensure my students consistently apply their knowledge by working through past exam papers. Helping students develop an exam technique is essential to their success in exams and my own students have achieved As and A*s in Maths through the methods we`ve practiced in our tutoring lessons.
Having worked with SEN students, I have developed a thorough understanding of the varying and complex needs of different types of students. This allowed me to diversify my teaching methods so that I can be accessible to students of all learning abilities.
