Information about Shazmen
I am a final-year medical student at University College London (UCL), where I also earned a First-Class Honours degree in Medical Sciences with Mathematics and Computers. With over six years of tutoring experience, I have supported numerous GCSE and A-level students in achieving academic success.
Having personally navigated the recent changes to the secondary and A-level curricula, I have a clear understanding of what exam boards expect and how to tailor my teaching accordingly. My academic background includes A-levels in both Mathematics and Further Mathematics, as well as a degree that deepened my knowledge and passion for the subject. This strong foundation allows me to explain complex mathematical concepts in a clear, straightforward, and accessible way.
I firmly believe that every student has the potential to excel in their subject when taught in a way that aligns with their individual strengths, needs, and learning style. My goal is to inspire confidence and curiosity in my students, helping them to engage with the subject and achieve the highest possible grades.
I am also passionate about improving access to high-quality tutoring. I have seen firsthand how impactful one-to-one support can be in unlocking a students potential. For this reason, I keep my tutoring fees as affordable as possible, ensuring more students can benefit from the personalised support they deserve.
In addition to tutoring, I support students applying to medical school. This includes helping with personal statements, providing interview preparation (MMIs and panel), and offering insight into the application process from someone who has been through it firsthand.

Experience: I have been formally tutoring Mathematics for the past six years. My teaching approach is highly adaptable and tailored to the individual needs of each student. I begin by identifying their strengths and areas for improvement, which allows me to design a personalised learning plan that builds confidence and fosters steady progress.
A strong foundation is essential to understanding any subject, so I focus on reinforcing core concepts before moving on to more advanced topics. However, mastering content alone isnt enough to succeed in exams. To bridge this gap, I place a strong emphasis on applying knowledge through regular practice with past exam papers. Developing effective exam technique is a key part of my lessons, and many of my students have achieved top grades including As and A*s through the strategies weve worked on together.
In addition, I have experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), which has given me a deep understanding of the diverse challenges learners may face. This has broadened my teaching style and enabled me to support students with a wide range of abilities and learning preferences in an inclusive and effective way.
