I am an experienced tutor with a vast amount of educational experience. As well as attaining two masters degrees - one in Philosophy and one in Literature - I have also taught all ages from 3 up to and beyond the university level, in a variety of subjects. The most core of these are of course English and Maths, but I also offer 7+, 11+, 13+, and philosophy if it comes up!

The only thing I enjoy more than talking about books, poems, and plays, and teaching others how to appreciate and understand them is the sense of achievement when a student of mine goes on to succeed either in an exam, or in some other aspect of their life.

English and Philosophy are the subjects I have the most love for,and I am able to each either of them up to a university level. There is no book, no philosopher, and no idea I am not able to teach you or your child about. Creative writing too, is something I have studied and something I am able to teach - useful for both the 11+ and English Language. I have successfully tutored people up several grades in their GCSE exams in English. I have had students who were on track to fail end up passing with only a few weeks of tutoring, and students averaging 5s and 6s who went onto get 7s, 8s, and even 9s. My favourite success story is a girl I tutored through her 11+, and then again through her GCSEs, and then again through her A-levels - and now she is going to University to study computer science.

I also have great experience in 11+ related work, the vast majority of my previous students were studying for 11+ or school entrance exams. Having gone to a grammar school myself, I am intimately familiar with the experience. I am fully competent and skilled in all areas of the 11+ and 11+ related exams, and am able to explain the concepts simply and efficiently. Many of my 11+ students have gone onto success. Last year I had students getting into Olave`s, Dulwich, Bromley High, Newstead, Sevenoaks, and so on!

Finally, I am a fun tutor. The sessions spent with me are far from dull, as I bring a sense of humour and wit to every lesson, ensuring that you or your child are able to enjoy what you`re learning, and not dread the next visit!

Availability: My availability depends on your location or your ability to travel.

I do however have quite a lot of clients at the moment, and my weekdays are filling up fast.

Experience: - My initial experience was one year at Explore Learning, a group tuition centre. This was more of a teaching role than a tutoring role, as children came in groups of six and performed most of their work on computers. My job was to ensure they were behaving themselves, having fun, and to assist in any great challenges they might be facing. I also was a compere - I was in charge of seeing the children in and out of the centre, and liaising between the other tutors and parents.

- Over a decade of private tuition work, primarily with A-level and GCSE students, but also with 11+ students and KS3 work.

- Mentor at University, both academically and pastorally. As a third year at University, I took on the role of looking after two freshers who may need help with their academic or social life.

- Worked as a lecturer and teaching assistant whilst studying for my Masters degree in order to fund it.

- Five years of in-school experience as an English teacher, but moreso as a tutor with the National Tutoring Program.
