Information about Teresa
I have been a private tutor since 2005 after graduating with a PGCE (Primary). I use a variety of methods and resources, allowing for different learning styles, but ensure that all lessons are person-centred, motivational and fun! I re-visit topics and ensure consolidation before moving on.
I teach numeracy (KS1 - KS3) & literacy (KS1-KS4) face to face and remotely. I also support students with GCSE English Language and Literature curriculum and Drama, helping students to improve writing and analysis of text. I can also support students in other humanties subjects where extended writing is needed.
I am a Specialist Teacher and Assessor for children with dyslexia (diagnosed or suspected) and other SPLD. I can also provide screening (less detailed than a diagnostic) which can provide more information about a student`s learning. I am also qualified to assess and teach children with Dyscalculia/Maths SLPD. I tend to teach children who are struggling with their work or they may just be behind in their learning and many that are SEN.
In addition I can help children with SATS revision, Common Entrance Exams, Study Skills, Touch Typing and creative writing support. I also teach adults.
Availability: I am available most days after 4pm plus holidays (all day). I am based in Lower Moor

Teresa has tutored Benjamin for his English Literature and Language GCSE`s. She understood his dyslexic needs well and adapted her tutoring sessions to get the most out of Benjamin. She gave us comprehensive advice on what we should be asking from the school for exam access arrangements. Benjamin did well and passed both GCSE`s with a 6 in English Language. Thank you Teresa - and Benjamin says - lovely dogs.

My son has only had a couple of lessons with Teresa so far, but already he is feeling better about English and how to approach homework and exams. Teresa is very patient with him, very friendly and keen to get him to where he needs to be. Very happy so far.

I am so pleased with our choice of tutor. Teresa has been such a positive, supportive tutor providing the right balance of challenge and reassurance. She is credible, knowledgeable and skilled at engaging a teenage boy learner. Her understanding of English GCSE, both language and literature, made my son approach his exams with an increased confidence. I would highly recommend Teresa as a tutor.
