I trained as a journalist and worked in Fleet Street for many years before deciding to make the move into education. I was inspired by a stint helping young job seekers with their CVs and application letters and I believe this experience allows me to tailor my tutoring to the needs of each individual - whether a school child getting to grips with their first steps at serious learning, or an adult looking to polish their prose and academic writing. I am also able to link this with the skills needed to succeed in the real world and that this reflects my belief that every child, or adult, learner is able to succeed with the right level of support.

Availability: School days after 4pm, most days during the school holidays.

Experience: How I stand out as a tutor is through versatility. I am able to offer a range of tutoring in GCSE and A-level English, as well as History, Philosophy & Ethics, German and Government & Politics, in a way that is useful and accessible for examination candidates, or for students who are struggling to get to grips with writing fluently. I have German as a second language and am able to prep candidates for their oral exam.

I specialise in developing academic writing skills and exam technique. I have taught English at secondary level and am able to apply this experience successfully to one-to-one tutoring so that learning can happen in a calm and thoughtful way.
