Experience: In my role as Academic English Tutor at the University of Arts (2004 - 2014), my aim was to minimise the disadvantages international students might experience when performing academically in English. Themes we covered: how to write essays, reports, plan and give presentations, make academic applications, how to organise study time, the best use of different research methods etc.
As Academic Support and a Note-taker for deaf students (1997 - 2011), I successfully supported many students in a wide variety of courses, from sciences (maths, physics, statistics), social sciences (sociology, psychology and counselling), IT and business to arts and humanities. My performance in this role was recognised when I was given Hackney Community College award for special achievement in 2003. This was a recognition of a two-year period of support of a blind and disabled student on a Counselling course.
